… but the old man is awake.
As mentioned elsewhere on this blog, we are members of the Usk Classic Car Club. Every now and then they arrange a breakfast meet up at Llandegfedd reservoir and today was the first one we have been able to make.

The forecast for this morning was that it would improve with bright spells so we thought we would take a chance on this. Soon after waking up a look out the window revealed that it was wet and raining but still we were still undeterred. Lizzie was brought to life and warmed up. The optional heater was going to show what it could do this morning (it was not particularly cold but with the quarter-lights open to provide some ventilation the extra warmth was welcomed)
The drive from our village to the reservoir was very pleasant on the winding road. Driving up the narrow lanes that head to the reservoir did prove more interesting from a driving perspective though. We are pleased with the way she handles although the 1172cc side valve engine does feel more suited to the flat than the rolling hills of deepest East Wales, unless of course it is down to the driver… The weather certainly made us thankful for the upgraded wipers (changed from the original vacuum style to electric ones)
Several members of the club brought their vehicles along, including vehicles made by Alvis, Morris and Porsche, as well as a single Ford example, we are sure you can work out which this was? Breakfast was at the visitors centre and was very tasty to say the least. The building here is modern and many tables have a view over the reservoir.
The drive home was via the same route as the outward journey and just as pleasant, almost a shame we could not have gone the long way around.
