Lizzie’s AA Badge

One of the things that stood out with Lizzie’s front end was her faded AA membership badge so we decided that this would be a nice quick restoration job.

The job to remove the badge from the car was simple enough, two bolts and it was free.

The badge free from the car, showing how “faded” it looked

On removal, the badge separated into two parts, the outer chrome part and the backing piece, a shaped and painted part.

And the reason it looks faded…

Once taken apart the reason for the faded look was apparent, the paint was not a yellow colour as expected.

Time was taken to sand the baking piece and a not quite so “faded” yellow (not correct but does look a lot better) was sprayed on. The results look a lot better:

A cruel close up showing a couple of blemishes – best not to look too close. The yellow is incorrect but better than what was there before.
And back where it belongs, looking a little more vibrant that it did before, if a little blurred.
